Streets and Sidewalks
Street repair work varies from pothole patching, crack sealing, to more extensive repairs such as concrete slab replacement, asphalt removal and replacement, and complete base reconstruction.
Sidewalks with an offset (trip hazard) of more than 1/2" are prioritized for replacement, then segments of damaged walk. For projects that are initiated by the Village there is no cost to the adjacent homeowner, sometimes a resident desires sidewalk replacement or construction in the public right-of-way on a lower priority area, in this case they can fill out a 50/50 program form and if accepted the resident pays 50% of the cost and the Village completes the work.
Snow plowing policy: The Village typically starts running plows after at 2" of snow has fallen, and will continue to remove snow until the snow storm is complete. At the end of a snow event salt may be used to help weaken the bond between snow and pavement to help clear the streets. The Village snow fighting fleeting includes 5 trucks with plows, three of which has salting ability, backhoe, skid loader, and gator for clearing Village maintained sidewalks. Sidewalks in front of residential and business properties are the responsibility of the landowner/occupant to make sure they are cleared after a snow.
