I received a letter from Ameren stating "Electric Supplier Choice Expiring" for Energy Aggregation but I did not opt out.  What does this mean?

The Village, along with other communities that participated in the Central Illinois Municipal Aggregation consortium, have being receiving calls by concerned citizens about a letter recently received by Ameren.  A sample copy of that letter can be found here.  This letter essentially states your current electric supply choice is termination (which this is referring to the Homefield Energy supply contract that is expiring in June), and as a result of this expiring enrollment, you will be enrolled into Ameren Illinois Rider Basic General Service (BGS).  Unless you opted out of the municipal energy aggregation program, this is not accurate, and you will still be enrolled in the municipal energy aggregation of the Village with Constellation.  The reason you may have received this is a timing issue and error by Ameren.  This letter was generated and processed by Ameren before processing the new energy aggregation with Constellation, the new municipal energy aggregation supplier for the residents and small commercial businesses that did not opt-out of the program.   Here is a letter from the Village's municipal energy broker, The Stone River Group, about this confusing letter.

If you'd like to get further information on this, you may either contact Constellation at (833) 358-0518 or the Village municipal energy aggregation broker, The Stone River Group, at (217) 671-9525.
